Our visit in Italy

The students who attend the second year of the Artistic High School of Capo d’Orlando are between the ages of 14 and 19. The school has about 250 students in 13 classes (90 % are girls and 10 % are boys. There are 30 teachers of different subjects, such as Italian, History, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Law, Drafting, Restauration, etc. and the duration of the course is five years. With the diploma that they receive, our students can begin to work immediately with professional proficiency or they can go on to university.
However, a significant number of our students, who come from the Nebrodi area, at times risk social segregation because of the modest social and economic conditions of their families and sometimes have to face lack of income for rather long periods of time. Many pupils have particular necessities and must be assisted by special class teachers. Our school is particularly interested in motivating both teachers and alumni.
 Through European cooperation and an intercultural exchange of ideas, we would like to promote formative strategies to widen our youth’s cultural horizons through dialogue and cooperation with European partners. Our institute would like to participate in the activities of the Comenius project for we are interested in getting to know other populations and other ways of life and wish to enrich and, at the same time, share our experience with other persons. Our desire is to discover new identities and the ways of life, cultures and traditions of other European nations.
Our hope is that our students may discover all this in order to increase the appreciation of friendship and tolerance and also to promote this nation in Europe.
We will work towards:
Bettering the ability of our students to work in groups, conduct research, enable them to socialize and  introduce the results publicly.
Bettering the ability of faculty and alumni to communicate in English, which is a vehicular international language.
Bettering the ability of our students to use computer science technology.
Increasing teaching experience through the exchange of ideas and opinions with other countries.
Promoting cross-cultural experiences and the awareness of being a European citizen.
Offering equal opportunities to all the alumni of our school.
