The Bilingual Secondary Grammar School of Balatonalmádi is a state school offering Hungarian –English bilingual education for students of 14-19, preparing them for higher education.
The school is located in a touristic area in the town of Balatonalmádi, with about 9 000 inhabitants near Lake Balaton, which is the largest fresh-water lake of Central Europe. It is ca. 140 km from Budapest, the capital of Hungary. Out of the 350 students 200 are boarding students, who travel home only for the weekends, because they are from all over the country. We have about 40 teachers at our school.
Our pupils study English, as the target language of their studies and one of German, Italian, Russian and Spanish as their second foreign language. They do Maths, History, Biology and British and American Culture and Civilization in English, the rest in Hungarian. We are planning to involve pupils that are 14-18 years old in the project.
Role in the project: We are going to be one of the partner schools.
